Two Minds - One Ride
I have always had horses in my life for as long as I can remember. I took lessons as a child and then owned my own horse as a teenager and throughout my adult life. I love them so much and yet, in the beginning, their power frightened me. That fear coupled with my lack of experience earned me a couple of trips to the emergency room. I knew I needed to learn more in order to stay safe and to be able to really enjoy my horses!
My husband, Pat, and I, spent one summer vacation in Parachute, Colorado. For 10 days we watched the students of "cert" ride, learn and share. The John & Josh Lyons Trainer Certification Program allows people from all walks of life, from all age groups, from literally all over the world, to come together and share a very powerful passion......not just a passion for horses but a passion for learning. The following year, Pat and I moved ourselves, 2 horses and one small dog to live in Parachute, Colorado for 7 ½ months. We were to embark on the most rewarding and exciting journey of our lives!! We made friends who are more like family and I discovered a passion for teaching that I did not fully comprehend at the time.
If you believe in "fate" or “destiny" or whatever name you wish to give "it"...I found "it" in the Certification Program. I LOVE to teach!! That passion coupled with my love of all things equine has made becoming a John & Josh Lyons Certified Trainer the single most rewarding experience of my life, thus far! I would do it all again in a hoofbeat!!!

The only thing that I have found that surpasses the thrill of completing the Certification program is the thrill and fulfilment I receive every time I work with students and their horses.
To be able to inspire, pass on this knowledge and share in the excitement as my students accomplish things with their horses that even they did not believe possible, fills me with such a sense of awe and a feeling as if I could do this forever......taking "Two Minds on One Ride".
On The Trail
The third session of our Yearling Summer Series, "A Better Start for your Yearling" was great! Mother nature really showed her support by providing a perfect day for some "horse play".We are into bridlework with these 2 youngsters and they both made noticeable improvement in both performance and focus. Part IV, is scheduled to run on Septembert 25th, 2010. I will be continuing with more bridlework excercises and adding more, always raising my expectations for these 2 youngsters. I am very excited as we will also begin the trailer loading sessions with both yearlings. A well rounded solid foundation is my ultimate goal for them!!
These 2 fillies are by the same Stallion out of 2 different Mares. They have very different personalities and they are already loads of fun to play with throughout this year. I am taking each of them through basic groundwork up to and including bridle work in preperation for light work under saddle next Spring. If you have a young horse or you and your older mount could use a "tune-up" you will want to check this series of one day clinics, held here at LUCAR Farms in Clarence Creek, Ontario. The fourth and final"installment" in the series is set to go on Saturday September 25, 2010.
- Pat and I recently returned from Cross Plains, TN, where we joined in the celebration of the Grand Opening of the Lyons Legacy Training Facility. We are very excited for them and we are pleased to have been able to take part. Visit Lyons Legacy for more information on this state of the art training facility and the vast amount of programs they offer.
- On September 18, 2010 I will be in Merrickville, Ontario at Pinecrest Farms, as they host "The Ride For The Cure", a day that celebrates the strength of the human spirit and how the healing power of the horse is so important in the lives of those affected by Cancer. This is a subject close to my heart as I was directly affected not too many years ago and it was and is my relationship with my own horses that gave me strength when I needed it most. I am humbled to be a part of this special day! Go to Pinecrest Farm - Ride For The Cure for more details on how you can take part.
- There is so much more happening in our lives! We are grateful for every single person who has supported Pat and I and allowed us into their lives to share in their accomplishments with their horses. We are truly blessed and not a day goes by where we forget that fact!! To each one of you I know that someday we will have an opportunity to meet somewhere out there...........On The Trail!
