Student Testimonial

"Kim is a good teacher because she is passionate about people and their horses. It is obvious she cares! She takes the time to understand the issues at hand, to define the students goals, to assess the horse and the handler, and most importantly, promotes safety for both horse and rider. Lesson plans are developed accordingly. She teaches with purpose and instills confidence in her students with progressive learning. The opportunity to seek clarification during question periods is appreciated and essential for good comprehension of the task at hand. Kim makes learning enjoyable by bringing her sense of humour to every lesson and her enthusiasm is contagious. I appreciate her honesty - she tells it like it is. She is patient, very observant and very particular to paying attention to detail. She has taught me that the little things count. Students can learn in a fun and pressure free environment...mistakes are ok, she says. She has been instrumental in changing my mindset about my horse and my own capabilities to train my young horse. She has taught me "slow is fast" and with buckets of patience we can attain our goals. She has taught me to focus on the good behaviour and not the bad, to never be "satisfied" with "good enough" and that my horses' emotions are not my emotions. Kim and I have worked together for 3 months now. I have regained confidence after a 25 year absence from the saddle. She has set a solid foundation for my unbroke horse and now I am proudly riding and transferring what was taught on the ground to the saddle. We are proudly strutting our stuff! I look forward to continuing to work with Kim as she guides me and my horse through the many chapters of our learning and I am proud to be a part of the Two Minds - One Ride philosophy! Thank you, Kim"

Two Minds - One Ride

Kim and
I LOVE to teach!! That passion coupled with my love
of horses has made becoming a John & Josh Lyons altCertified Trainer the most rewarding experience of my life! I would do it all again in a hoofbeat!

Attitude is everything in life and a positive attitude is the one tool I ask my students to bring with them before they ride their horses! See your best ride...feel it deep inside and that is what you will manifest! Add a bucket of patience, some common sense training methods and a sense of humour and you will be amazed at what you and your horse will accomplish!

I work with horse owners on their goals, not mine. Each person has a dream, a personal goal that he or she wishes to achieve with the horse. Whether that goal is to work safely around the horse on the ground, have the horse stand still to mount, load calmly on cue into the trailer, control the speed and direction of the horse while riding or perfect the perfect stop etc....I am grateful to have this opportunity and I thank each and everyone of my students who has permitted me to pass on what I have learned and share in their accomplishments. "Good for you!" John Lyons would say...good for you!!

The only thing that I have found that surpasses the thrill of completing the Certification program is the thrill and fulfillment I receive everytime I work with students and their horses. To be able to empower, pass on this knowledge and share in the excitement as my students accomplish things with their horses that even they did not believe possible, fills me with such a sense of awe and a feeling as if I could do this forever......taking "Two Minds on One Ride".

The Future is Very Bright!!

We are very excited anticipating lots of riding and "horse-play" this Winter now that we have safe secure footing and a roof over our heads. As far as the cold is concerned...hey, we are Canadian...enough said.

Aside from the obvious "hock deep horse-play" in which my students and I will be engaged, this building also allows me to begin planning a series of Winter Saturday Clinics, beginning in January 2012, with topics ranging from basic groundwork required to build a solid safe foundation between horse and handler to excercises designed to develop the proactive rider capable of maintaining control of the horse at all times.

Construction continues inside as the heated viewing area is finished, allowing auditors to sit, in comfort, watch and hear all that goes on in the arena.

Specific dates and topics will be posted when confirmed. Check my
Schedule Page for more information in the new year.

There is so much more happening in our lives! We are grateful for every single person who has supported Pat and I and allowed us into their lives to share in their accomplishments with their horses. We are truly blessed and not a day goes by where we forget that fact!! To each one of you I know that someday we will have an opportunity to meet somewhere out there...........On The Trail!

Take care,
